ny92mike Posted February 8, 2020 Author Share Posted February 8, 2020 VERY VERY IMPORTANT READ So was going through the FA bid sorting sheet, to make sure things were working as they should, and discovered a major issue with the free agent UFA/Resign bids. The issue isn't fixable using the current setup I've got with the links used to account for pending contracts. I noticed this when I pulled available caps from each team and discovered that some teams are in the red with your bids. When you create your contract, you'll get approval that everything is good Contract Structure Approval Validation Valid Contract Type Pass Pass Subsequent Yr % Rate Cap Number Validation Pass Pass Average Per Year (APY) Preferred Contract Length Pass Pass Signing Bonus Amount Vet. Min Per year Pass Pass 2020/2021 Top 51 Avail. Cap Contract Passes Required Validation But still be well over your available cap. I attempted to pull the available cap links from the official rosters into the workbook and several links went nutty, things seemed fixed now. Something similar happened a few years ago, when I linked individual cells to show the cap for each team. This glitch happened a couple times that year so I'm a little nervous about relying on this process to verify cap. To be honest, not really sure how to handle this mainly because I don't really know exactly why it happened. Without saying names but I'm showing 2 teams over the cap and also know that they'll be pissed off because the contract says good to go when the official cap will keep them from landing anyone. Granted one of these teams is 22 million over but still they are getting the green light. Regardless of this glitch I'm talking about it doesn't fix the Green Light issue because of the pending contracts, it's a loop so it's constantly trying to update adding the contracts to the pending list and then when one of those make it go over it tries to remove them from the pending list, once removed the cap is no longer in the red so it adds them back and we're back in the red. I'm thinking either this glitched it or I did when I added the available links to the sorting workbook or it could be the fact that I've got too much stuff going on with these workbooks. Any suggestions would be welcomed at this point. When I see it but without redoing a ton of stuff and even then I'm not sure how it would hold up. I don't have another option I see without removing the pending contracts from official roster. Seems fine now. The going over situation I can let you guys know or if you just look at the 2020 and 2021 cap in the fa workbook as you create them it'll show your cap. Can't have this...I'll do my best to message you guys individually about going over but I can't make any promises. I understand it sucks, but it is what it is...all you guys need to do is to make certain that after you create each contract that you aren't in the negative. If you are, you'll miss out on every bid you place...no exceptions so make sure you aren't in the red...if you have questions let me know.
