ny92mike
WOW...Was looking over the new CBA agreement. Several changes some good some bad. Download the PDF https://nflpaweb.blob.core.windows.net/media/Default/PDFs/CBA Side by Side 3.9.20 FINAL.pdf Just some of the ones that caught my eye. New “Veteran Salary Benefit” allowing up to 2 players with four years of service to remain with their club; up to an additional $1.25M in Paragraph 5 excluded from the salary cap by each club each year; increases throughout course of deal. For all players making more than the applicable minimum salary who are under contract as of February 26, 2020, and remain under that contract in the season the league moves to 17 games, they will be paid a bonus in the amount of 1/17th of their salary if they are on the roster of the club on the date of the 17th game without any dollar limit. Rookie Redistribution pool for veteran benefits (e.g., PBP) of $2.0M per club starting in 2021, increasing with revenues; additional increase of $1.0M per club added to this pool which can be used to increase minimum salaries if they do not keep pace with the growth in revenues Rookie Pool to grow at the rate of the Salary Cap, eliminating lagging growth rates if cap grows by more than 5%. Players drafted in Round 2 now eligible for Proven Performance Escalator – if 60% playtime 2 of 3 years or cumulatively (P5 increased to ROFR Original Draft Round Tender). • Begins with 2018 draft class Rounds 2-7, if 55% playtime in each of first three years (P5 increased to ROFR plus $250k). • Begins with 2018 draft class If Fifth-Year Option is exercised, player’s contract is fully guaranteed for fourth and fifth years upon exercise of the option. • Starts with the 2018 draft class, An additional player may be designated-to-return from Injured Reserve (for a total of 3 players). Active roster increased from 46 to 48, with 8 offensive linemen. Practice Squads expanded to 12 in 2020 and 2021, including 2 players with unlimited Accrued Seasons Further increase to 14 in 2022, including 4 players with unlimited Accrued Seasons No limit on number of times a player may be on Practice Squad No limitation on the number of years a player may be a Practice Squad player. Practice Squad Players elevated to the Active list may be returned to the Practice Squad without having to go through waivers 2 times. Two Practice Squad players each week may be elevated to the Active/Inactive list (increasing the Active/Inactive roster to 54 or 55). Substances of Abuse Emphasis on clinical care over punishment. All treatment and testing decisions will be made by jointly selected medical professionals; No suspension for positive tests if engaged in clinical care. Marijuana: No Suspensions for just a positive test Annual testing limited to the first two weeks of Training Camp; Higher testing thresholds for a positive test from 35 to 150 nanograms; No required length of Program stay; Violations of law for marijuana possession generally will not result in suspension. NFL Combine is scheduled to take place on Feb 26th to March 4th. That said, we could start drafting on Monday, March 7th to avoid kicking it off on weekend. Time slot adjustment to shave a couple days of the duration of the draft, this adjustment brings the duration of the draft to 12 days. Rounds 1 thru 4 - :40 minutes. Rounds 5 thru 7 - :30 minutes. Require email address. Tagging the next OTC GM doesn't always work out. I recently downloaded an add-on that sends out email notifications automatically when a cell reference is triggered. This can be used to notify the OTC team rather than the need to tag. I've tested this and it works well, several options to select from in how and when the notification is triggered. Having this notification system, could also be used to remind everyone of various scheduled events. Refine the current system that flags teams that are interested in trading up or down. Setting it up a bit different by including formulas that will allow teams to view potential trade offers from teams looking to move up. I believe that this would also save time in getting a trade worked out while OTC. Think Madden franchise mode, where you can view potential trade offers during the draft. Typically I'd schedule the draft to start around the 7th FA bidding round. I'd like to set it up where we are drafting earlier in the mock, still after the combine, but kick it off after the 2nd or 3rd bidding round. This past mock I spent a lot of money trying to fill voids via trades and free agency, I'm thinking this would help with spending and game planning. Thanks....More to follow. Next season is ending later than ever due to the extra game. I think a couple weeks after the Super Bowl is early enough to start. That would push the draft portion back to the middle of March which would be good as several pro days will have been held by then.
ny92mike
Hope everyone is doing well. Over the next few months, I'm slowly going to be working on our next mock draft, so if there is any suggestions for improvement with the guidelines, workbooks or even how it's managed, please let me know. I'll be designing new workbooks that hopefully reduce if not eliminate the issues we dealt with in last years. Some of the major issues that hurt us such as the waiver wire and issues with the ufa bidding sheets will get fixed. Starting from scratch with this so I should be able to weed out all the issues. Anyway, keep your eye out for new content as I'll be posting my own suggestions to gather feedback as well as workbook information. Again any help you can provide me would be much appreciated. Will try to post the start of this project tonight. Here is the (view only) link to what I'm currently working in for the new design. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NT3SLtapzH5b0PqvuuItIL0TYfDX3wKaDkIoMjyuHJM/edit?usp=sharing Thanks Peeps. @LuckyNumber11 @whodatOL @Ghostnote @KingOfNewYork @BringinDaPain @Forge @sparky151 @cortes02 @JWingate @BowserBroncos @winitall @squire12 @jch1911 @Counselor @pwny @samsel23 @Trojan @carrolljcmc @EaglesPeteC @FinneasGage @DoleINGout @JetsandI @ny92mike @bcb1213 @T-rade @Cbrunn @Justone2 @mountainpd @Daniel @MikeT14 @drfrey13 @Deadpulse @YogiBiz @SerenityNow
sparky151
I'd suggest for waiver claims to do it like the real NFL does. Team with best original draft position gets dibs on all the players it wants. Much simpler than what we had and more realistic too. Also note that players claimed from waivers come with their current contract, not vet min for their service. So claiming a Josh Rosen means you have to pay what his prior team negotiated.

Would also note, claimed players cannot be released or traded after claimed. I think that's already in the rules, but just to make sure. ny92mike
If any of you would like to assist on working on creating a better APY Value system, hit me up. Otherwise, we will continue to use what I've been doing with some minor adjustments. This is what I've currently got going with this project, some of the names still need to get removed as they have either retired or are listed out of position. Note: I haven't calculated yet, but some players will be given a higher APY value, because they are currently making more than the number listed. Potential Rule Changes or Additions Include a rule that prohibits a team from dropping below a 50 man roster. I say this because some of us feel the need to cut their roster down to well below this number at the start and build it up, however teams never really add like they should. Should we go back to including, the following year for salary cap compliance? Mentioned this before but include an allotment for extensions similar to how we do restructures. These type of contracts seem to be getting out of hand. It looks like we are all in agreement that we should have 3 bidding rounds per week (Mon/Wed/Fri), correct? As mentioned above, fix the waiver wire so that it is ran like the League manages it. I'm also looking to create an additional bid slot to be used if a bidding team. @pwny mentioned this earlier. My suggestion was the following; If the 3 ufa and fixed resign bids don't land you at least 2 players then the 4th ufa bid is included would be the only rule we'd need to create. No "what ifs" the rules would remain as is and the only way this new rule gets implemented is if you are awarded 2 or less. This 4th bid goes in and would still have to beat out any other bid on him. I'd like to create a section for teams looking to trade up in the draft to post their offer, that is collected so that the OTC team can quickly look at what trade down options are available to them while OTC without it taking too much time. Still a lot more to look at but if you guys could provide feedback on the following it would help us out. Thanks Mike
sparky151
Yes, the following year should be included for cap compliance. Teams typically manage their cap for the current and next 2 years, not worrying much about three years out and later.

Building these workbooks from blanks is a much bigger task than I thought...moving slower than originally thought.
