2020 - TCMD GM Mock Draft Discussion

Recommended Posts

I'll be updating the OFFICIAL TEAM ROSTERS WB's tonight.  However, I've already updated the UFA listing which allowed me to change the status of the FA transaction workbooks from view only to Edit.

Remember to reload the workbook, by exiting out of them before attempting to edit them.

I'm also going to start working on the Free Agent public workbook that shows all signings along with some additional information.

Not sure if you guys would be interested in creating a voting system for trades and/or free agent signings or not, unfortunately I don't have the time myself but if someone has the time to head this up I think it would be a cool addition and would provide us something to do between bidding rounds.  Anyway, if interested in doing this please message me.

Jets Round 2 Press Release

Jordan Jenkins- It was very important to bring back a homegrown talent who's continued to develop under GW. He will be a force on the EDGE in both the run game and pass rush. He's a leader, consistent and we want to reward our guys for their hardwork.

Joe Looney- His history with OL Coach Frank Pollack was crucial in our decision to add him to our roster. With a hole at Center and our emphasis on having a starter at every position pre-draft we had to make a signing here after missing out on Glasgow. Looney will start at C with Alex Lewis to his left.

Dion Jordan- The versatile EDGE defender will be a great addition to Williams hybrid front scheme. His ability to do a little bit of everything will allow us to move him around on all 4 downs.

DE: Calais Campbell
NT: Timmy Jernigan
DE: Taven Bryan

OLB/Edge: Jadeveon Clowney
ILB: Donta Hightower
ILB: Myles Jack
OLB/Edge: Josh Allen

CB: AJ Bouye, DJ Hayden
CB: Eli Apple, Artie Burns
FS: Devin McCourty
SS: Ronnie Harrison
_________________________

Defensively I think this is a good looking group. Last round we signed Eli Apple and Artie Burns to solidify the number two corner and a reserve. This round we signed Timmy Jernigan to a starting NT role to replace cap casualty Marcel Dareus. Timmy Jernigan who is 27 has flashed and took 2018 off (mostly) to back surgery, but played most of last year. Jernigan slides in next to Campbell and Bryan to create a new 3-4 front. Supplementing the new 3-4 front Myles Jack remains at ILB, but gets pair with Donta Hightower who has been an effective leader of the Patriots for years and is only going to be 30 years old. Although I plan on playing Hightower inside, his ability to rush the passer makes him a valuable versatile piece backing up two premier edge rushers in Clowney and Josh Allen. Finally the Safeties has Ronnie Harrison who is a solid young box safety, and pair him with Devin McCourty who although is pretty old is one of the better free safeties in the game -- and a game changing upgrade on the back end.

With the offensive changes of gaining Stafford, Woods, and Ragnow I'm pretty stoked about this team in general.

Saints press conference starting right now!

We are very happy to have Covington and Burris, two rotational players, who will also see significant play time. Burris in particular is coming to us very cheaply, but the Covington deal is also a reasonable one and he will be a good replacement for onyemata. All in all we are very happy to be able to replace both of our big losses in Bell and Onyemata in the second FA round and not overpay too much.

We would have liked to sign Darqueze Dennard as our nickel cornerback, but we have already gone to our limits here. In the end, it's annoying to miss the player so close. But there are other good interim solutions still available and we already have Patrick Robinson on our roster, who might get a shot at the starting job now!

P.J. Williams comes back at the minimum and will be a rotational corner who might compete for the nickel cornerback role with Robinson.

Losing Patrick Omameh is a bit of a sad thing, but we would never have paid him more than the minimum, as he would probably have just become a camp body or our 3rd string IOL.

Went with another round of guys that will mostly fill specialist roles or back-ups.

Cody Latimer has been in the league for 6 years and his best year was last year with the Giants. Has some of the speed we where missing in our WR corps and has some experience returning kick-offs.

Damontre Moore had some good plays for us last year before his injury and is another depth signing who might not even make the 53 but you can never have enough depth as a outside rusher.

Maurice Canady is a pure depth signing who might lock the 6th CB spot up. Has improved every year and has the tools to be a nice piece in the secondary.

Went low on Ted Karras since i was the only one bidding for him to add some extra interior O-line depth but the Bills just jumped in and offered a way better contract than i would probably have given looking at what role he would play here.

Timmy Jernigan to a starting NT role

Overall impressive looking group besides this.....

Timmy Jernigan is not a nose tackle. He is a 1 gap penetrator. He was in a 3-4 with the Ravens as a DE and he just didn’t fit which is why he got traded to the Eagles for nothing. Timmy excelled in that 2018 season being able to just attack while being next to Fletcher Cox. Unfortunately he got a mysterious back injury after the Super Bowl and he just isn’t the same guy and can’t stay on the field.
